Social Emergency Association: at a glance

We are writing to let you know the real important work of the Project P.A.D.I.

P.A.D.I means the ”Support to the Whole Development Project”, promoted by Social Emergency working on the National Fight against Poverty.

From the very beginning of our Project, our Association and our poor people have been changing and growing for the best.

We would like to mention some activities we have been working on , but above all telling you the friendship and confidence won during these years between poor children and families.

• the Association buildings: a T2 flat with a small space which is its own management headquarters; this is the only one proper local to do our activities; besides that, we have a knew building for the children and teenagers activities; a warehouse in the suburb of the Red Cross, a pavilion with about 500 m2

( 5 rooms, a gym and 2 change rooms and a football field.)

• the number of children/ teenagers that usually come to our activities are 130.

• the number of helped families are 100 ( besides those other children who come

to the activities and have,as well as the others, a personal attendance.)

• the number of women and babies guided and granted are 90 .

- the number of partners of all the establishments of this area and other

institutions and foundations such as “ PROSALIS “, “CENOFA”, “AJUDA de

BERÇO”……We all have on account that each partner is worth a lot to the

welfare of all these poor families.

- people living in the suburbs helped by our Association reaching a job. There are

9 workers in our team of work: 4 of them live in those poor suburbs as well as 10 women, which are living on a minimum salary. They attended an intensive course, in training , in a Personal and Community Services Course, promoted by “Social Emergency”; this course has been supported by I.E.F.P. ( Professional Institute of Work) in partnership with A. P. C. D. ( a Portuguese Association with Culture and Environment in certain areas). They were 15 people asking for our help in order to get a job; although it exists a “ Univa” to help them.

• the number of children that had psychology support are 25 of them.

• the number of firms that helped us are 25 of them.

• the number of people that gave us some donations were 150 .

• the number of volunteers are 50 of them.

• the number of professional volunteers:

· in the medicine area ( including Gynecology/ Obstetrics, Dentists, Pediatrics, Children Psychiatry, Radiology, Orthopedics,General Clinic, Nursing) are 11 of them.

And in the Educational area we have 1.

• the number of Trainees from Criminal Psychology and strange behaviours and from Psychology Cliniques from University of Lusófona are 36 of them.

This way we think we can verify and emphasise the great value of our work.

The most important thing in this Project is the deep friendship we have made with them: the human social and civic values given and the way people become better and better at what they do.
